CAF Champions League: Finidi concedes defeat to Pyramids FC

Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George has acknowledged that Egyptian side Pyramids FC were superior in their recent CAF Champions League clash.

The Pride of Rivers suffered a 4-1 defeat to the defending champions in their penultimate group game, played in Uyo on Sunday.

Stephen Manyo gave Rivers United the lead in the 33rd minute, but Mostafa Fathi equalised for Pyramids FC in the 52nd minute. Marwan Hamdi, Odeh Al Fakhouri, and Nasser Maher added further goals to seal a convincing win for the Egyptians.

Finidi cited indecision and defensive mistakes as the key reasons for the loss. “We controlled the game and scored our goal; we didn’t give them much space in the first half,” he said in a post-match interview. “Indecision was our undoing because we made mistakes in tackles and were outpaced by the Egyptians.”
