Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has warned Arsenal that Manchester City striker Erling Haaland’s return to form could be a “scary” prospect for the Gunners.
Haaland played a pivotal role as Pep Guardiola’s side came from behind to beat Liverpool 2-1 in the Premier League at Anfield on Sunday, scoring the winning goal to keep City in the title race. The victory leaves the Cityzens six points behind league leaders Arsenal.
Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day, Rooney highlighted Haaland’s impact: “Haaland creates the equalizer and scores the high-pressure penalty, which keeps Manchester City in the Premier League title race.”
He also noted that it was Haaland’s first goal at Anfield for Manchester City, adding, “You could see the relief in his face. The confidence that [winning goal] will give him now will be scary for Arsenal in the next few weeks.”
