Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has described Manchester City’s 2-1 Premier League victory over Liverpool as a crucial result, highlighting the difficulty of winning at Anfield.
Rooney also emphasized that Arsenal should focus on their own performances despite City’s comeback against Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Liverpool seemed set for victory after Dominik Szoboszlai’s stunning free-kick, but City turned the game around with late goals from Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland.
Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day, Rooney said: “Today’s win is important for Manchester City. Anfield is a tough place to go.

“I’m sure Arsenal were watching closely because if City had lost, it would have made things more difficult for them. But Arsenal just need to focus on doing their own job. Having experienced this myself, I know it’s difficult because the players would’ve been watching at home, thinking City are slipping up.”
