Janet Akekoromowei has been ruled out of the Falconets’ upcoming clash against Senegal’s Lionesses this weekend, PHCityHype reports.
The Bayelsa Queens striker picked up an injury during the first leg of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier in Abeokuta, a match the Falconets won 1-0.
Akekoromowei’s replacement, Kindness Ifeanyi, scored the decisive goal in the 51st minute.
The 18-year-old striker will not recover in time for the return leg in Dakar on Saturday. A draw in the reverse fixture will be enough for the Falconets to advance to the next round, where they will face either Guinea-Bissau or Malawi.
Coach Moses Aduku’s side have qualified for every edition of the U-20 Women’s World Cup, continuing their strong record on the international stage.
