AKA’s doppelganger was recently spotted performing at a nightclub, reigniting social media conversations about the late rapper.

A video showing the lookalike singing AKA’s hits has gone viral, drawing both curiosity and debate online.

Celebrity lookalikes paying tribute or recreating famous performances is not uncommon, but this particular clip sparked mixed reactions.

DJ Speedsta criticised the act, saying, “When you don’t get attention in high school you start to do weird things in your old age!”

Business executive Nota Baloyi, however, defended the performer, describing the moment as innocent fan appreciation. “He went to high school with my little brother & got lots of attention, he’s a big fan doing karaoke. Nothing weird!” he wrote.

Fans on social media were similarly divided. Some questioned the intent behind the performance, while others saw it as harmless fan enthusiasm. One user wrote, “Is he aware that he’ll never be him no matter how much he looks like him,” while another added, “Not that deep man. Just a fan doing karaoke.”

AKA tragically passed away on 10 February 2023 outside a restaurant in Durban, a loss that continues to resonate deeply across the South African music scene.
